Environment
The golden wattle appears underneath open forests or woodlands in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT that have an average annual rainfall of 350mm to 1000mm. However the golden wattle has been introduced to Perth and it threatens to become a weed. The golden wattle is able to regenerate freely after a fires that usually kill the parent plants which stimulate the germination of seeds that are stored in the soil however, this only happens if rain follows soon after the fires. The wattle also prefers to grow in areas that are hot and have low humidity. The average temperature throughout the year the golden wattle prefers is between 8 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees, for the hottest month of the year the wattle can grow in temperatures ranging from 22-34 degrees Celsius and in the coldest month the wattle can grow in temperatures from -2 to 9 degrees Celsius. The golden wattle is also able to tolerate frosts from 0 to -5 degrees Celsius.
