An adaptation is an organism's structure, biological response and behavior that improves the organism's chances of survival in their natural environment. The organism's with the most favourable adaptations will have the greatest chance of surviving and reproducing to keep the species alive.

When different organisms adapt to different environments, the organisms obtain certain structures or behaviors that enable them to survive in the conditions of their environments. Because adaptation ensures the survival of species, organisms are able to reproduce allowing the species to live on.
